Progresso - SSRS - Effective on date

Hello all

 

What I would like is to be able to add a parameter to reports with an 'Effective On Date' to show the data as of any date in the past. For example, if I have students and classes, it will show students who have left and their class as of that date.

 

For those who have used SIMS, this is a standard parameter before you run the report but struggling to get it working on here.

 

Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.

You just need to set up the filtering effectively, which takes a bit of practice but is then pretty easy. It only works obviously on data that's datetime stamped, so attendance, group populations etc.

 

Example report. This will filter to Learners who are active on a particular date as well as the groups they were in on that date. To do that all you need to do is set the filters to looks for "Start Date" (be it of the group, or the Learner or whatever) before the date parameter and "End Date" after the date parameter or empty (because sometimes End Dates will be empty in Progresso. For example periods of FSM eligibility or SEN Provision that are ongoing).
