What about software that needs the CD to run? Software that cannot be pushed out to clients via MSI? Clearly we don’t need spare mice, blank CD’s, DVD’s, microphones e.c.t

I dread the day they force out service pack 3. We still have 4 machines without service pack 1 as the new French software we use doesn’t work with the service packs. I bet they will want to get rid of the last two Acorns as well, even though they are perfect for the job.

Its crazy the ICT conference last week was talking about the way forward is IT techs and pushing innovation. Yet BFS is taking away IT techs and innovation. The left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, springs to mind.

EDIT: In BFS who runs the school website and manages the internet Filtering and email? What about display TV's around the building?

Future proofing usually means paying a premium today for something you might need tomorrow but by the time it arrives (if ever) it has changed and doesn't work with whatever you bought originally!

Future proofing is a buzzword that should be avoided.

Instead, please feel free to use the phrase capacity management and projected capacity. Apply this to both staff, resources and space.

Please update your buzzword bingo playing card to include the above.
