I've been given the task of figuring out how to get a camcorder to stream to youtube live. We have a camcorder and a device that allows us to record the camcorder onto a PC. We will then need to upload this live onto youtube as a live stream.

I just don't know where to start looking at this. Can anyone help me out here.

Install OBS on the machine and check it works with your capture card. Assuming it does that will give live stream capability to YouTube.

OBS looks great; free and lots of features.

I'm just in the middle of doing something similar. I'm using a Magewell HDMI USB 3 capture device and OBS to stream. I'm able to stream to Youtube, or Facebook Live, whilst at the same time, capturing the video to my PC and SD Card in the camcorder. You need to have a PC with a good spec to use OBS and alter the bitrate/scaling settings to make sure that the video streams smoothly but once you get it set up, it works really well. It also allows you to set up an rtmp stream, using something like Mona Server, which can then be opened with VLC or similar, to stream across a network.

Tried OBS but couldn't get it connect to youtube. followed several tutorials but it just wouldn't connect to youtube. I've had to go down the route now of Google Hangouts on Air, which seems to work fine.
