I seem to be having issues sending mail to Yahoo from Office 365. I have 3 addresses being rejected with "This user doesn't have a yahoo.co.uk account " this is even thought that the address in SIMS!

Is the data accurate in SIMS would be my first suggestion? If its parent / student provided it could be wrong / been entered wrong as I had that many times on data checking sheets wrong email addresses, spelling etc. Many I could fish out and fix myself / flag for manual follow up with the parent before we tried to send to them.

BT Yahoo or just Yahoo? I know BT silently drop emails if the user has ever marked an email from you as spam.

The TLDR is "if [email protected]" gets marked as spam by a BTyahoo (btinternet.com) user, all subsequent emails will not be delivered to that user and the NDR you receive will be inaccurate. There's a SIMS KB article (KB-473347, reproduced below) about it that specifically related to InTouch:

KB-473347 InTouch messages will not send to BT Internet accounts and the below message is received:

"These recipients of your message have been processed by the mail server. Failed; 5.3.0 (other or undefined mail system status) Remote MTA mx-bt.mail.am0.yahoodns.net: network error - SMTP protocol diagnostic: 554 delivery error: dd This user does not have a btinternet.com account [0] - mtal1034.bt.mail.ir2.yahoo.com

Solution

In October 2015, BT made changes that now silently drop message recipients who have been marked as SPAM by its customers. This setting is applied per mailbox, therefore the recipients will need to remove the SPAM filter for the InTouch email account.
