I have a Canon photocopier that warns of a duplicate ip address even when on dhcp. I have tried changing the address but the warning stays. I tried pinging the address and nothing any suggestions anything with the same address.

What happens if you give it a static IP not in the DHCP scope do you get the same message? Presume the machine has had a full reboot including power off at the wall? I'm not familiar with the devices but can you reset the network card on it?

I am waiting for the IT service team member of the copier company to come out an have a look. I did try putting the mac address into DHCP and also put the IP address on the laptop and plugged into the network port where the copier goes and that worked fine.

They tested the copier and it will not load the firmware as the network is bust so they have now ordered a new main board for the copier.
