Tesla Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 So out of some xmas vouchers i decided to get a Nutri Bullet. so, advice? Didn't realise you have to have liquids in it/ fill it with salad leaves..... any good recipes? I'm more looking towards the sweet/fruit side of things....but happy to try stuff.
zag Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) I've had one of these for a few years now and they are brilliant, so easy to clean... I use it for protein breakfast shakes in the morning as it fits nicely into my hectic schedual. One thing I would always recommend is to add some green veg to any shake for digestion and to balance the acidity of it. Check out this getting started graphic I generally use water as my base liquid, and a banana helps to keep the air bubbles down if adding protein powder. I prefer spinach as my green veg as its pretty tasteless and cheap to buy. Edited January 9, 2017 by zag 1
danbuntu Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) best bet is get down to the local market and buy up soft fruit. Esp strawberries Slice them up,lay flat on a tray and freeze them. Then put them into boxes. Then put a handful of strawbs, a dash of lemon juice and a good slug of vodka. Blitz and then top off with lemonade for a daiquiri. Also works really well with loganberries if you can get them. If you insist on being healthy then a handfull frozen strawbs, a small youghurt such as a bunch bunch, a handfull of oats, a bananna and top of with water. Edited January 9, 2017 by danbuntu 1
Arreks Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I use mine for Huel, it's great make sure you wash the blades straight away! 1
Tesla Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 @zag With that poster, i assume that then means i dont have to put something leafy in the machine? (ie celery could replace the leafy item)

Garacesh Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Off Topic: @Arreks is Huel any good? Paging @Joanne (I've also been investigating meal-replacement 'food'stuffs so I was looking into getting some kind of blender/bladey-smashy-cutter-upper, so any recommendations for hardware would be awesome)
zag Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 @zag With that poster, i assume that then means i dont have to put something leafy in the machine? (ie celery could replace the leafy item) Yes you can use any green vegetable really. Its all about reducing the PH of the shake. 1
Joanne Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I liked huel. I'm considering getting more for over BETT and then my skin doesn't end up falling off again!
Arreks Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Off Topic: @Arreks is Huel any good? It's okay.. I mean, I felt great after using it for breakfast every day for a month or so (I'm not using it every day anymore) but it tastes how I would imagine cremated remains would taste. I had to add more flavourings to the vanilla flavoured one to make it bearable.
Joanne Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 I bought the huel flavouring with mine and it was good. I went with strawberry.
Tesla Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 not interested in huel just yet, just want general usage advice!
mukz Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Try adding some ice to your shakes! Just seems to make it taste better ( for me anyway)
Tesla Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 I bought some frozen pack thing "good for nutribullets" , it was kale, spinich, mango and kiwi. tastes good, the liquid it says to use is apple juice (which we normally get every week, this week? nah, not a chance!) so used orange and mango juice instead. Having it this morning. Hopefully will get used to it (using the nutribullet) and start adding more to it/ doing different bits, but for now, this frozen pack seems good!
Garacesh Posted January 10, 2017 Posted January 10, 2017 Apple juice, iirc, is used as a base for a lot of drinks because it's quite sweet.. But its sugar content is usually pretty high. Pretty sure I saw an advert last week saying Aldi are doing a bullet-esque blender, hopefully they still have some on Friday.
Tesla Posted January 10, 2017 Author Posted January 10, 2017 I try do always buy juice concentrate..... tesco have a fairly good range, i just happened not to choose apple this week! the smoothie i made i had during the course of the morning and it seemed to keep me filled up and not starving by the time lunch came round..
Joanne Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 I thought I posted a link to meal plans in here?
