pete Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Found an email from Kier in the inbox this morning sent on the 22nd mentioning they were cancelling all school and academy contracts effective 31st March 2017. We use them for a few bits and bobs (email pre-filtering, external DNS management, acting a as "chase $connectivity_breaking_culprit for an ETtF" gopher. etc) so will be looking for alternate provision. Just in case anyone else if still using them for stuff.
eddyc Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Interesting - Is there any public information on anywhere about this? I have had a Google but can't see anything. A school where I occasionally help and offer advise use them to escalate issues where required and I understand that they haven't heard anything yet. A link to send over to them would be useful.
pete Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 The headteacher/nominated contact (me in this case) should have received an email and there'll be a physical letter (ours arrived today) sent to the school as well. I can't see anything official online and it looks like (from the email) a fair amount of people will be made redundant. YGPM. 1
ITGURU Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 I only found out this from another school - I wasn't notified the school had received a letter or anything. However we moved web and email filtering away last year due to the poor reliability of their oudated Netsweeper filtering product, was meant to be a pilot school for smoothwall but never happened so moved away, Just recently moved our .sch.uk domain to a new external provider and having contacted emPSN about internal DNS forwarders, I was sent this.. https://www.empsn.org.uk/2017/03/14/lincolnshire-dns-services-check/ So glad we moved away when we did.
pete Posted March 15, 2017 Author Posted March 15, 2017 That looks like a rather hastily written "Hey Bob, did we ever tell anyone about this?" notice.
