Send a document to all users on network

Hi, not sure if this is the right area to post this:

Is there a way that I can send a notepad document to every student on the network, ie; have it go into their 'My documents' so that they can open and edit it? The reason for this is that students have several logins for different educational sites like Mathletics and the time they spend trying to remember their login or find their diary is beyond belief.

This way I could make a partially made document that they could just complete with their details.

group policy preferences can do this or failing that a quick logon script

We have ours on our student portal, gives them access at home as well.

They do have access at home as well but not through any portal as we don't use one.

Group Policy Preferences. Can't remember exactly where though no access to AD at the moment.

 

You may need to play with specific settings but this should defo be able to do what you need, I've used many times before successfully.

create/edit a policy that affects these users and tell it to cophy afile to their user area like in the pics below

Mathletics do offer SSO options now (just so you know).

it possibly wouldnt work anyway the source really needs to be a unc path not a mapped drive and the destination type it (or copy and paste it) something like\\server\users$\group\%username%\documents would work depends on your exact setup my users all have their home area happed as u: so i can cheat a bit and use u:\documents but again ive found unc paths more reliable
