CAM Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Nice Android handset, loved it and found the battery life and overall quality of the phone was good. But this is my first phone that has barely crept past the one year mark (they normally last 3-4 years if not more). For a while, the USB charging has been a bit temperamental. Plugging it in didn't always work but this was because of the stupid recessed USB port. It started becoming ever more troublesome this year and in the last few months, I could only charge the phone if I didn't so much as nudge it. The last few weeks, I've had to forcibly push the USB cable against the phone whilst it is laying flat to get any charge. The phone then randomly decided to spend 12 hours on charge to give only 20% battery charge. Last night it decided to charge to 12% so I unplugged it and gave up. It then turned itself on, installed an update, set the alarm off for all of a few seconds then took it's last breath. Now it won't do anything. Any ideas? I have tried multiple charge sources (charger, PC, charger in different socket, different PC) and different USB cables. I have no spare battery.
LeeCSE Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 If you can find one that fits you could use a Qi wireless charger receiver (sits between your phone case and your battery) and you will be a Qi wireless charging point as well. But of course you will need one that doesn't plug into the Micro USB as it sounds to me like that is the problem. That said for the trouble it might be worth just getting a new phone. Lee
Achandler Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 You get 2 years warranty on them remember, so don't dismay yet. get it fixed Also you can buy cables especially for them, I have 2 cables for my Wileyfox due tot he stupid recessed USB ports, it jsut makes life easier.
Danp Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Seen quite a few people complaining about their customer support, people sent phones off and nothing after 9 weeks etc. Just hope my Swift 2 behaves itself!
free780 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Mines been pretty good. My Nexus 5 had a similar charging issue.
CAM Posted November 28, 2016 Author Posted November 28, 2016 Might try a new battery first. £15 from them. If that doesn't fix it, sounds like the warranty route. The cable it is meant to come with doesn't even work unless I tilt the cable at a specific angle.
free780 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Side note. Why are charging cables so short now. Constantly knocking the wileyfox one out.
Simcfc73 Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Old thread I know but.... I thought I would have a punt as Santok were selling off the Wileyfox stuff... and you can still buy them even though it went bust. Never been so frustrated contacting customer support, Santok phones wont answer anything related to Wileyfox.... the webchat is run by robots... I was asked to send my phone on and have revieved no communication at all in 3 weeks. Serves me right!!

The USB port on the Swift 1 is just junk unfortunately.
Dos_Box Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 When my sons one died I got him a Huawei Honor 6x, never had a problem with it and you can pick them up for about £130, it's a very nice phone indeed.
Simcfc73 Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Dont tell anyone but... its a windows phone.. I've gone back to my lovely green Nokia 635
MkII Posted September 13, 2018 Posted September 13, 2018 Micro usb charge ports are a weakness all told. I'd almost want to open the phone up and glue it in tight. I hate mechanical components prone to failing. Less buttons and ports the better. It's just a shame wireless charging tech doesn't work better. Shout our for the Xiaomi Redmin Note 5. Got one for my daughter for £130 and it's been rock solid. Big battery. Still fast and getting updates after a couple of years.
