Hi,

Since we came back in September, we've had nothing but problems with google chrome on staff and student computers (works fine on mine). The problem is when someone attempts to connect to a webpage, around 7 out of 10 tries don't work. It might work some times, but most of the times it doesn't. It also seems to be the same websites for everyone.

The strange thing is, when it doesn't connect, you can get on any other site until you have closed chrome and reopened it, then it will work fine until you need to connect to that site again. When chrome is having this issue, if I open IE, that works fine and same with Firefox. It only seems to be affecting chrome.

Anyone got an ideas?

Thanks,

iirc chrome uses it own dns servers by default but that can be turned off by gpo / registry setting have you tried altering that? iirc in the options its down as use a web service to help resolve navigation errors try turning that on/off see if that helps

I also noticed you mentioned it works fine on your own login but not students or teachers which suggests it may be an OU/Group permissions issue in the UTM, can I also ask which UTM/Web Filter solution you're using ? and how are you populating it with the users? (Active Directory (Equivalent) or Google domain)

We are using lightspeed rocket, even if I add the ip address on the "test" machine i used, to the internal ignore, i still get the same problem. We are using active directory on server 2008.

I had a company call iComm connect to us when we first found the issue, even they came back with no answer. The cancelled out the lightspeed rocket and sonic wall. He did install fiddler and you could see what was happening, but with chrome, sometime it would request a webpage and other times it wouldn't. When it wouldn't, chrome just stopped completely.
