Recent DC Change to Server 2012 WSUS not populating

We recently migrated from Server 2008 to Server 2012. Everything seems to have gone fine apart from WSUS which is not displaying client machines.

The WSUS was then removed completely and reinstalled to start afresh.

 

Still no clients in the Console. We have tried both Use The Update Services Console and Use Group Policy or Registry settings on computers.

 

As we are behind the SWGfL SSL Filter in the Domain Group Policy the port is set as :8531 but I notice that on a Client in the registry for Updates the Target has Port :8530 and the WUServer and WUStatusServer both have picked up port : 8531

 

Trying both http://servername/iuident.cab and http://servername/selfupdate/AU/x64/W7/EN/wuaucomp.cab both without a port and with ports 8530 and 8531 all brings up a HTTP 404 error.

 

Can any wise sage on Edugeek point me toward a resolution please?

I recently re-installed WSUS onto a Server 2016 VM here. The server addresses that I have are:

I did have the server name in place but it seemed to work directly with the IP address instead (could be a Proxy Setting needed as a local bypass address for our WSUS server, but the above works for us).

 

We also have download mode set to Simple.

 

All working so far with clients reporting things back quite happily.

That update link doesn't exist after 2003.

 

It should be http://server:8530/selfupdate/iuident.cab or https://server:8531/selfupdate/iuident.cab

Also make sure that your WSUS server (and indeed, anything in your domain really) is in the IE proxy exceptions lists that are relevant. Can make a difference depending on how you configure proxy settings.
