I'm another aeropress user. The ease of cleaning is what I love about it most. :-)

 

Tend to buy my coffee from lidl, they do ace coffee for cheap.

Right, so I need to ask Father Christmas for an Aeropress then.... I know that my friend once scalded myself from being a bit too enthusiastic with his.... anyone done that?

Yes. Make sure you don't spill any grounds into the grooves that hold the filter-head in place. If the head isn't properly secure things go badly wrong when you invert it. But you'll only ever do this once.

I like the Aeropress, nice and cheap and gives a decent coffee. Not much in the way of crema though.

 

For good coffee, get a hasbean.co.uk subscription. They roast it on sunday afternoon, grind it and send it out whilst it's still warm. You get the freshest possible coffee every monday morning!

I'm on my second Aeropress and I'd not buy another one. After a while the polycarb seems to start to crack up and it gets worse and worse until the plunger won't seal it effectively. My next for work will be a metal Cafetiere which genuinely do last for many many years. At home I have a nice little Rancillio Rocky/Sylvia combo and a hottop roaster but I'm not sure that lot can survive in my choice to live with a postage-stamp sized kitchen.

For good coffee, get a hasbean.co.uk subscription. They roast it on sunday afternoon, grind it and send it out whilst it's still warm. You get the freshest possible coffee every monday morning!

Hasbean are great however, you should allegedly give freshly roast coffee 3-5 days to degas but it may be moot if you buy pre-ground.

Yeah I'd love to grind our own, but work won't stump up the cash! They must be doing something right with their system though as hasbean coffee is delicious!

Yeah, but then there's the time taken to do it, plus getting the grind right. Management would never stand for that amount of time spend on brews.

Apparently the espresso machine was invented in Italy for just that reason (management thought coffee was taking too long to make - proper espresso takes 25 seconds.)
