I was thinking the same thing the other day.

 

 

Does anyone get those "Windows Anti Malware Team" calls any more? I haven't had one for ages but I found an easy way to get rid of them was to tell the truth:

 

 

Caller: There is a problem with your computer.

Me: Which one?

Caller: You have more than one computer?

Me: Yes.

Caller: How many computers do you have?

Me: (takes a look around, counting as I go and deciding to include the VMs on a Hyper-V server) 37.

Caller: You have 37 computers??

Me: Yes.

Caller: Is this a business??

Me: No I am at home.

Caller: You have 37 computers at home??

Me: Yes.

 

Caller hangs up.

Yes I got one yesterday, I usually play them along so they aren't ripping off innocents, but yesterday I wasn't in the mood so I just enquired if she knew she was working for scammers (some aren't aware), and that perhaps it wasn't the best idea to try the scam in an IT guy, and the fact I'd quoted half of my "computer ID number" should have been a dead giveaway. She hung up.

Had one a few weeks back. I had a bit of time spare and managed to string them along for 20 minutes before they caught on. The highlight was hearing his growing frustration when I informed him that the machine was turning off - he did tell me to "close everything down".

I have them quite a lot at home - I usually tell them exactly what they are doing and that it is morally unacceptable. They usually argue with me and disbelieve that I am a computer engineer even when I tell them where they were going to get me to look and what they were going to say
