localzuk Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 So, I've been waiting for years for Microsoft to make its InTune tools available to schools for a sensible price - its finally happened. I've just been told we can add it to our OVS-ES/EES subscription for £14.50 per FTE! Includes Azure AD Premium, Intune, Azure Rights Management and Advanced Threat Analytics. As InTune can handle iPads, Android and Windows mobile devices, this looks like a very cost effective way for us to cover our MDM needs. Especially as I have 300+ iPads, 30 Windows RT and a bunch of Android tablets to manage now!
localzuk Posted November 1, 2016 Author Posted November 1, 2016 Don't think its a link - speak to your EES provider I think. That's who told me. 1
TechMonkey Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Damnit! You got it 50p cheaper than I did! It still seems to be confusing as one point we had only a 100 licenses for EMS which would not have covered all our students AND staff. Plus there are various complications as EMS is mainly for per user usage, not per device so if you want to hook up shared devices you have to go about it a bit differently. Only way we got it was to ask our Account Manager to really push and he ended up asking on teh MS Education Yammer feed (is it a feed, I never know what to call it) and some one came back with clarification and what to quote to the system and it went through.
Willott Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 From the last info I got about this, licensing for FTE covered for staff use and not student - has this definitely now changed?
gshaw Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Yes also interested to hear about @Willott query above. EMS price for staff FTEs was fine as of last year but MS sneakily put a charge per user for students to use Azure AD Premium (i.e. password self service for SSO federated users etc.) which for us negated the point of buying EMS as a pack and also goes against the general rule of educational licensing being by FTE count. MS have tried these kind of strokes in the past (Office 365 E3 licenses etc.) and eventually seen sense so hoping for the same here.
Wave9_Mark Posted November 1, 2016 Posted November 1, 2016 Assuming an OVS-ES agreement is in place, if you subscribe all Staff for EMS (Azure AD Premium / Intune / Rights Mgt) at £14.50 per user per annum you get Intune (only) for Students for Free. It's one of the Student use benefits. If students need access to to Azure AD Premium, this needs to be purchased in addition to the above at circa £1.75 per user annum. 1

And that's why we won't buy EMS right now, per user pricing for students for Azure AD Premium is really poor form from Microsoft there. No logic in the pricing of it, if EMS is sold as a pack it should be the same free for students offer across the whole suite. Edited November 3, 2016 by gshaw
