Afternoon all. Battling through my Mac OS issue list, nearly there now! However I've hit a stumbling block once again.

 

Mapping AD home folders to the sidebar. My current setup is all Macs on 10.11.6 are binded to Open Directory and Active Directory, then policies are managed via Workgroup Manager.

 

 

I've created this, but it's not doing anything on the sidebar. The home drive is appearing in the dock at the bottom, but this causes an issue in Office products and 3rd party apps when staff/students need to save there work as they can't save it to there AD home folder.

 

Anyone out there got a working solution for me? Much appreciated as always!

Wooah, WGM with 10.11? I thought we were late adopters, ditching it when we moved to 10.10. I started to find it didn't work reliably for many settings, and Profile Manager had caught it up in capability.

 

As it is, this is a problem. Our users just have to know that work must be copied into their home area with Finder - it's a bodge but the save dialogue in most applications doesn't bring up their AD home, even though it's in the Dock and accessible in Finder.

I would ditch WGM and move to profile manager. The switch really isn't that bad. What I like about it the most is that I don't have to bind my macs to OD anymore. All we do now is just bind them to AD during imaging with DeployStudio. We also do the trust profile and enrollment profile but have had mixed results. So we almost always just push them out using ARD and installer package. There are MCX to Profile conversation tools out there. Thanks for your comment mate. I moved to Profile Manager yesterday, created Device Group, just need to enroll 120+ iMacs now and should be hopefully sorted, as for the sidebar script, do you place that into Login Items?
