Looks really nice - pricey but clearly targeted to a niche audience.

They did actually. A 64GB SanDisk Z400s M.2 (SATA not NVMe!) SSD and a 2.5" Seagate SATA II 5400 rpm HDD.

Geforce 980m, surprised they didn't go for a 10 series model, less heat and less power usage

It looks very iShiny. I can see why MS have done it but i suspect that most people who like their kit to be overly shiny & expensive go for Macs.

The surface has one thing that the Macs don't, Touch screen! Plus the pivot, the pen and that circle thing I've forgotten the name of. Ok that's more than one!

 

Along with the much more powerful 980m compared to the AMD cards that the high end Macs use, this is way more powerful.
