Kyle Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 I have set up Exchange on our domain. It will only be used for internal mail and not for external. My problem is DNS related i think. If i type the IP address into browser for OWA ie; https://192.168.1.1/exchange it resolves tot he OWA web page. If i type https://servername/exchange it tries to look outside the domain. I have added the MX record int two firrefent ways, once as just the server name and once as the FQDN and neither seem to work. I guess i have missed something stupid but i am new to Exchange. Any ideas?
SYNACK Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 What does nslookup return. Is it using your internal DNS server and if it resolves an external ip what is it / where does it go.
Neil Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 If you try to ping servername was address does it resolve to?
Kyle Posted February 21, 2008 Author Posted February 21, 2008 NS Lookup comes back withthe correct server name Ping does exactly the same
SYNACK Posted February 21, 2008 Posted February 21, 2008 How is your browser configured, are you trying to go through a proxy or via a direct connection. If its via a proxy does this have any caching/routing that may be effecting it. Also have you checked that your hosts file on the computer has not been tampered with as this could send the system to a different address than the one specified in DNS. You might also want to try connecting to it without the browser using telent, that way you can see if it connects. telnet servername 80
