Micro USB Cables - How long do yours last?

This is proving to be a bit annoying. I seem to be replacing the micro-usb cable on my desktop (and at home) every 5 months or so. It appears the copnnectors inside give up the ghost and begin to stop connecting snugly.

I'm loath to pay ££'s for one that claims to last when my experience over the past couple of years is that even ones costing between £5-£10 don't last long at all.

If you know of decent cables which don't cost the earth please feel free to recommend them.

I have a short Nokia micro USB that has lasted me years. It is only about 15cm long though. It's the only cable I have that will charge my Note 2 properly (1.5A). The rest don't last very long at all.

At home mine last pretty much forever. Different story in schools though, I generally buy Anker branded cables as they're rather more sturdy than usual.

I can't remember having to chuck out a micro USB! Though I have found it can be worth paying more if you want reliable charging rather than just data transfer.

I think I've had one break (and it'd work with a bit of wiggling) since I started using them at home. The school ones last a couple of years

As far as I know the cables themselves are reliable, although our staff lose / misplace / wander off with them (and "Tecknet"-branded Lightning cables) at such a rate (around a dozen of each per term) that we've never really seen an old one.

They must get lost in bedside chargers and car glove boxes (attached to car chargers).
