forkies Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 I have been asked to provide a question that some sixth form students will be given as part of a treasure hunt to find my office and then receive another question/clue. Simply, what question should I ask? I thought about just giving them my offices GPS coordinates, but think that might take them too long. Maybe a quick URL to maps with a marker on my office? Or as my office is between two rooms (T3 & T4) I was thinking of just putting T3.5. Or a question that would give them Silicon Valley as their answer which should lead them to IT... or a question that would lead them to my surname? The opportunities are endless but want something that will challenge them, but not take too long. Any ideas?
TechMonkey Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 "Go to the IT Office" in Binary? Clever ones will guess it is to do with IT, less astute may have to translate it and find out.
elsiegee40 Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 (edited) 49 54 hexadecimal for IT or 73 84 if you want ASCII If you want to make it easier tell them Hexadecimal/ASCII The more astute will solve it without looking up the code! Edited October 17, 2016 by elsiegee40
SteveBentley Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Give them the clue in the form of a QR code?
Duranis Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Give them the clue "Something is broken, it has a plug attached, where do you take it?" 3
Oaktech Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 Give them the clue "Something is broken, it has a plug attached, where do you take it?" You'll find them clustered around the WEEE bin at the local civic refuse site.
simonw Posted October 17, 2016 Posted October 17, 2016 How about give them a question using crytography (caesar cypher, code wheel, etc), crack the code, get the question (possibly cryptic), work out the answer
forkies Posted October 18, 2016 Author Posted October 18, 2016 So the teacher thought my clues were too hard and I have opted for the, "something is broken where do you take it" approach. I did think about getting the previous treasure point to give them something like a USB stick that doesn't work so they would end up coming to me.
