Sheridan Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Any of you using Media player as the default player in 10? We want to set it as the default as groove is pap. We use VLC as well but our staff want media player as the default for mp3s etc. You used to be able to do this with GPOs but that stopped at MP9 I think?
pantscat Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 You can still do it via GPO - but you need to export an XML file from a reference Windows 10 PC (set up the way you want it) in order to do it. Check this out for more info: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825038.aspx Shout if you get stuck. 1

Ahh that rings a bell, bit of a kak handed way of doing it, but thats the Windows 10 way!
ITJS2015 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 No other way apart from doing it as a xml, when sys your machine sysprep and install for the first time it doesn't keep your configuration hat you set before hand. GPO using xml file is the way forward unless you want to go round one by one and set it manually for each staff user
Arthur Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 but that's the Windows 10 way! The "Windows 10 way" applied to Windows 8 and 8.1 too.
TwistedHelixis Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 Recently done this for all the built in Win 10 apps such as, pdf's should open adobe reader not MS reader etc.
