Large Format Printers

We are looking for an A1 Printer for our Art Dept as we have been given a bung to purchase one outside of normal budgets.

I think we somewhere in the region of £4K but we will need a stand and would like a decent (3 year?) warantee plus maybe an extra pack of ink carts.

The main use would be for the photography course so I need to factor in ongoing ink costs so maybe a 6 or 8 colour system rather that 12.

I have no knowledge of this area at all other than buying a canon for our DT which was mainy for graphical stuff and that was several years ago.

 

Any suggestions on models\brands would be appreciated.

We did this 2-3 years ago and ended up purchasing an Epson Stylus Pro 7700. Only had to do anything to it once in all that time, was relatively straightforward to setup and I think we chose that one based on its replacement ink costs (A long time ago now so it's hard to remember exactly)

 

We had a similar budget and ended up buying stock of ink and paper, as the printer itself was <£2k

I've just setup 3 of these Canon IPF670's although they were supplied from elsewhere I don't think the price eBuyer is doing them at is bad.

 

Got 1 in a repro room and the others are in design areas. The quality and speed is good and setup is quite easy. Just needs 2 of you to lift it onto the stand.
