365 users not syncing to Exchange 2013 as Mail Users

Hi everybody,

 

Our staff all have outlook accounts and use Exchange 2013 and all our students have 365 accounts, 2nd year students show up in the staff GAL but 1st years do not. I din't set up the 2nd year students accounts in AD but when I compare the attributes of the 2nd and 1st years they all look the same. I have however noticed in the Exchange management console that the 1st years aren't showing as Mail users under contacts so my question is this..

How can I get my first year students to show in the GAL and in contacts within exchange?

I run a script to add them as mail contacts at time of office365 licensing, this is the command I found and use.

 

Enable-RemoteMailbox -identity $SamAccountName -remoteroutingaddress $EmailAddress

Thanks.. does anybody have a method for adding users who are already in active directory and office 365?
