Imac g4 blue screen

My Imac g4 running 10.5.2 just displays a blue screen with a cursor on bootup, and all I can do is move the mouse, no menus or anything.

 

I can't buy a fresh copy of osx for personal reasons, and have files on this the current os. It may have been a network boot, because on bootup it loads a lot of network settings, and it stopped working just after my powerline adaptor cooked itself.

 

Any ideas?

So network boot also doesn't work? Do you have the original install disks to boot up from (hold C)? You have some repair capabilities from there. No point in buying a newer copy, Leopard is the latest version that will run on that hardware.

My friend's dad gave me this about a year ago, and i got zero accessories. I just hauled it up the road on my bike, connected it to a network, stole the ac adaptor from my dad's laptop and it booted fine. I have no discs or anything.

Without a bit of spend, or some luck asking round, you'll struggle. Your HDD may have died, or it could just be the install. Either way you'll need some install discs, which Ebay can usually provide (you will need non-hardware locked ones).

Have you tried resetting the PRAM? Hold down P R Alt and Cmd keys directly after the first chime and then hold until you hear the second chime.
