Hi

We are looking at purchasing impero to replace ranger remote control (netsupport) the initial cost is for a three year licence is expensive. I was just wondering what peoples views were on this, vs other products for safeguarding etc. What have other schools paid for impero?

Thanks

Hi @itgeek Impero have gone through a rough patch over the past year or so but are now, in my opinion, back at the top of the game. Their support is top notch. I wouldn't be without Impero nowadays. Their current version specifically includes safeguarding. As to price, we are approaching the final year of a three year contract so I haven't a clue what they charge now but I'd guess in the now competitive market they are going to be competitive.

I'll second this.

They had a real rough year, but the latest version seems to be back on form, and the support are improving. Long may it continue

What price do you put on safeguarding children? I found the cost of Impero to be very reasonable, only slightly higher than our LEA charges for Policy Central but about a million times better.

You know your 100% compliant with KCSIE and Prevent too.

We've just rolled out Impero and are very impressed with it. It's not without its niggles, but having looked into a few products we decided that impero was by far the best offering, and the price was rather competitive. Yes, it's expensive but the competition is even more expensive in some cases.

The management are loving the child safety aspects, but even more so the staff are loving the classroom management. We have already seen a huge decrease in misuse of the computers by pupils.

Echoing the sentiments expressed by others: has had a rough patch in the past year; and the software does still have some niggles that are obvious. But I really can't think of any other classroom management software/network management that I'd use over Impero.

Have you looked at any others or just impero? Ranger remote support I think is a rebranded version of NetSupport Schools (someone correct me if I'm wrong?) but Netsupport DNA product is much more similar to impero. Best to compare apples with apples.

100%? Only if it's monitored, maintained, acted upon and the appropriate authorities are informed. The job doesn't end at installing the software - and any ofsted inspector that thinks it is needs further training.

Hey itgeek,

I am in my first year of Impero on a BYOD school. My opinion is extremely mixed on the matter usnig the latest version. When Impero works, it works great. It has excellent feature capabilities and great remote monitoring.

My biggest complaints are just the sheer amount of bugs I have found. I really wish they would do one or two maintenance releases that focused just on fixing bugs. The clients do not work correctly on a number of computers where they are not able to join a teacher's private session (the join ability is disabled), there are numerous times you will be alerted to violations that you have already cleared, and I've had a number of student laptops show where the client services that runs on the student machines states that it is starting up but never actually starts up. My school also purchased the patch management add on and I think I have done six or 7 calls into it and it still doesn't work where the reports tab never shows anything has been patched/updated. It also doesn't patch Macs, which is a huge letdown.
