british-wave Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Does anyone know how to set quotas on folders rather than disks. I have a need to implement a new area for certain students to save files for a subject. This needs to be seperate from all the other areas that they use. It needs to be a dedicated 50 MB in size. I dont want to move lots of other files around to be able to do this. Please help me !!
Netman Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Just map a drive on your management station to the file share, right click, properties and you should have the quotas tab...
british-wave Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 And how does one do that. Been ages since Ive done it. Sorry for being dense
plexer Posted January 25, 2006 Posted January 25, 2006 Right click "my computer" pick "map network drive" enter in relevant details unc etc... then when it's mapped go into "my computer" and right click on drive letter? Ben
british-wave Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 Sorry for theg delay in gettin back to you. I has not worked. I dont get the quotas option. Any other ideas
Geoff Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 you need to enable quotas on the partition first
british-wave Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 Yes this has been done and I dont get it.
Norphy Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I don't think you can do quotas on folders in Windows. To do that you'll need either Windows 2003 R2 or if you want a bit more sophistication a third party quotaing piece of software like Storage Exec.
