Disappearing Icons - windows 7

Not sure where this should be!

We have moved to Hosted SIMS -which may or may not be relevant - and one of the admin users is finding that when she exits SIMS, her desktop icons have disappeared and only reappear if she "paints" the desktop with her mouse pointer.

Has anyone ANY ideas why this might be happening? I can't say I've ever seen it :(

i know nothing about SIMS because up to now it has been on the admin network, not my curriculum network.

I'll have a look at the graphics drivers, thanks

Updated graphics drivers (they weren't in at all as it happens - LA computer, not mine!)

Sadly the problem persists.

Anyone got any other ideas?

If they're LEA ones are they on the latest RDP version on the machines? (Rather than 7 or w/e came with it originally)

Absolutely no idea. But there are two identical computers in the office and the other one doesnt have a problem

If you run mstsc manually, and click the lil comp icon in top left, and go about it should show about versions of the rdp (Real version and then the RDP version)

There were a lot of old hotfixes for the old version of RDP, and if one's been updated through Windows Update/Manual updates etc to the newer RDP, and one hasn't, may explain why one's got an issue.

I've absolutely no idea. We just started using it last week and it is only used by admin who are on a different network to me. However, that makes more sense now- I shall make enquiries!

When you run it on the icon in your bar does it show like a lil circle with green arrows on it? Like watermarked over the normal SIMS icon. if so that's RemoteApp and thus uses the RDP platform.
