Hello,

 

Are other schools using Micro Librarian's Eclipse.net hosted? Since they have moved from Silverlight to HTML5, our connection to them is going over HTTP rather than HTTPS. I have reported this to them and after not hearing anything for ten days, they have now confirmed it is an issue and say "It has already been scheduled to change them to HTTPS ready for HTML 5 is fully released in October" which suggests that the HTML5 version is not ready yet. We certainly haven't signed up to any beta programme or given them permission to use our school data for a test system running over HTTP.

 

I just wondered if other schools are seeing the same thing and what you have done about it. This is a worrying attitude from a company who are handling our student data.

OK now you have me worried as I'm about to send our data in October so we are ready for after half term...I will contact my account manager tomorrow about this what else have they said ?

We are using pre silver light version and they said us to upgrade to silver light. We are experiencing problems with importing year 7 data to the system.

From what I've been told I just need to pass them the wbls (what ever the dbs is called) over to them then they will attach it there end but I'm not giving it them if we are not going to be use https because that's not good esp as.it has names and addresses of pupils etc and staff to they told us its going to be html5

Did you get any response from your account manager?

 

The latest I have got is "If you would like the library system to run on HTTPS then it may be best to switch it back to Silverlight until October and only use Internet Explorer as the web browser to access the library system.". Obviously completely missing the point of a cloud based system. Even if we could realistically control which browser users use to access this one particular site in school, we can't control what they use outside of school. I also received a marketing email with the subject 'Introducing HTML5 Management' from them today.

@David44 I did yes she said as from Oct half term for us its from 20th all http traffic will be https however for the schools that want http they still can however they will have to do this in the control panel.
