Moving windows to extended desktop from the touchscreen

Hi,

Sorry if this solution is elsewhere, couldn't find it...

 

I use a laptop plugged into a 55" touchscreen as my interactive whiteboard. I usually use it on extended mode (showing different windows on each screen). On windows 10 I now get a taskbar on the bottom of the touch screen which should be great, but if I open an app from that taskbar, it will appear on the laptop screen, not the touchscreen. This means I have to then walk around to my laptop to move the screen across to the touchscreen. I know this seems minor but it's frustrating when you're in the flow of a lesson and seems completely unnecessary! The task bar on the extended screen is controlling the windows on the primary screen, which seems to defeat the object of having a taskbar.

 

Does anyone know of a shortcut I can use from the touchscreen to bring a window onto it, or force

What happens if you make the touchscreen the main display?

 

(Display settings, click appropriate screen and tick the box)

 

Just tested: seems to remember which monitor it last opened on, but "new" windows open on primary.

 

P.S. Right click taskbar and in properties you can change it's behaviour to some degree.

Making the touchscreen my main screen actually seems like a reasonable bodge. I can then control the computer completely from the touchscreen and it doesn't affect my general work on the laptop because I just disconnect the touchscreen when I'm not using it and it defaults back to the laptop screen. I'll try it out in the classroom when I'm teaching and see if it works. Thanks! Edited September 22, 2016 by captaineasychord
