Is EE Broadband and TV Worth it?

Looking at possibly changing from Plusnet to EE. But I would like some reviews. I've looked online but most of them can't be helped. Like people not setting there routers up etc. Anyone used EE. Pretty much switching from. BT to BT.

 

Any thoughts?

The speed is fine - off peak, but they must be much meaner with their contention ratios than BT standard. At busy times my fttc line, which speed tests at 38Mb/s, regularly drops to 1.5 or 2. It is possible that I was just lucky - I got the fttc service the week it arrived in the village, so perhaps there just weren't many people using it, but i suspect that's where they're getting their cost savings.

 

The router it comes with is crud - I couldn't get a wireless signal in the room next door - but I was only logging in to get the account details to set up my router.

 

I'm hoping either BT or Plusnet will be more generous to a new/returning customer when my 12 months is up.

I had EE broadband in my last house and it was fine. Their tech support is terrible* (I'm probably a bit biased, though..) but the line was fine and the speed was good. When I moved into this house, the line was shockingly bad, so I cancelled.

Never tried their TV.

 

 

* My connection was intermittently dropping out once or twice a minute for 10-ish seconds. The Tech person I spoke to didn't understand what I meant by "ping" and "packet loss"

just upgraded to fibre from adsl and it's fine, 38mega sausage dl and about 9mega upload. Routers a bit better range wise than the old brightbox 1.

Never had an issue with it previous really.

Nope. Any VDSL compatible setup will work. (Obviously needs to be configurable, so no BT home hubs etc[emoji1] )

I have EE broadband at home and have 60Mbps, no issues. It works all day every day

 

I get a very strong AC Signal upstairs and down and get signal in every room of the house.

 

The TV is awful though, it's just freeview but the menu is slow and clunky, we went through 3 boxes because it kept freezing. Not sure if they have updated them since, but I wouldn't dream of going back. Switched to Sky for TV.

You'll need the broadband username and password, but they're configured in the router provided, so you just login to that and grab them.

 

We're still using the YouView box we had when we were with BT. BT implied that everything would stop working on the box, but the only thing that disappeared were the BT channels. Even better, the HD channels suddenly became available [emoji1]

 

After we left we were sent letters and packaging saying we needed to return the BT kit, but that's not quite true. It's part of the WEE regulations - you own the kit as long as you're out of minimum term on your contract.
