Classic logon in group policy for windows 8.1

Hi folks - I've got group policies set up on my 2008 r2 DC which force the classic logon and make sure that the last user to log on is not shown. This works fine on all my Windows 7 Pro devices, but we've got some new Windows 8.1 Pro tablets, and I just can't get it to work! Has anyone else experienced this?

Not entirely sure what you mean by "Classic Logon", but we have "Interactive logon: Do not display last user name" enabled on certain OUs and it works with W8.1

How are you managing your win 8 gpos? I seem to have it in my mind you have to use vista or above to create and manage them not from win7/ server 2k8r2. This may need clearing up as its all a little hazy now!

Was a while ago, but I may have just imported the adms. The school I'm at today is on 2012, but it's also working at my 2008R2 school. Student/shared machines don't retain the last user while Teacher/dedicated machines do. I'll try to remember to take a look tomorrow.

Thanks a lot folks - the GPO I had set up a while ago on our 2008 R2 server, and works fine with our Win 7 Pro laptops, but these new Win 8.1 Pro tablets just don't seem to want to run half of the GPOs... I've also tried to update the group policy templates on the server.

Just realised that I was replying to two different people!

 

Anyway, it doesn't look as if I did anything special to get it to work. Possibly a problem with the wireless connectivity at the time the policies are trying to apply? Do you have a USB/Cat5 adapter that you could test the tablets as "wired" with?

Sadly I don't have a USB/Ethernet adapter, so I'm stuck with wireless! I'm wondering if that is it.
