How to lock or force same Power Settings for all Domain Users

I am building an image for a Toshiba U300 laptop and I need to use the same power settings for every user. The problem is that when I logon on locally as another user or as a Domain User all the settings go back to their default values. I found a registry key but the only thing it does is to allow you to set the power scheme and not tweak the power serttings....

 

Any help would be really appreciated!

just a guess but do you have mandatry profiles? if so try changing them to DAT and then change the power setting.

Yes i do use mandatory profiles, different for pupils and staff. But where do i need to change them from? Do you mean on the local machine where I use to create the profile? If i change the extendion on the server then the profile is no longer mandatory...

are the profiles on the server? if they are (you will have to do this when no one is logged on - half term) open the pupils profile folder on the server- change the ntuser.man file to ntuser.dat - log onto a different machine under a user that uses this profile - change the power settings - log out, "this then sould save the changes to the profile on the server, now go to the server and change the ntuser.dat back to ntuser.man and it is back to a mandatry file. do this also with the staff profile. this should work - hopefully;)

Dtakias - I had the exact same problem at my organization. I have not tried any of the recommended solutions posted above.

 

However, I may have an alternative solution that worked for me.

 

I created a logon script for the affected users. The script is one line and simple. It goes like this:

 

powercfg /setactive "always on"

 

This way everyone's power settings are consistent and I don't have to worry about the laptops (that are shared) going into standby mode, etc.
