Can't RDP to home media computer after changing ip address

Strange issue i have just moved over to virgin media and they have messed up all my ip addresses at home as they use 192.168.0.x instead of 192.168.1.x and this cannot be changed on the Hub 3.

 

Problem is i have a home media server (running windows 8.1) and i used to remote desktop to it all ok from my mac. However since changing over to the new ip address (i have set it as static) it will not RDP into it. I can ping it fine and access the shared drive on it all fine but RDP just fails and gives connection timeout.

 

Anyone got any ideas what may have caused this?

Has the network location changed from private to public?

Same as above had it where it went public so windows firewall blocks it, as it's only private it allows it by default

 

Had to change the location in windows settings

Is it the super hub AC? You can do a 193.168.1.x range. You cant rdp into it because the subnet mask is likely 255.255.255.0 . Change the static IP to 192.168.0.2. Set the range for dhcp to 192.168.0.10 to 254. Then you have space for statics if you ever need them.
