rrafluap Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 Hi, We wish to offer parents at our school the ability to watch one of our events live from outside of the building. There are a few services that im aware of but wondered if you guys had any suggestions. The cameras would be a standard video camera with either component or HDMI and be easy to access for all. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks, Paul.
foofighterjim Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I would usually just recommend streaming to YouTube using https://obsproject.com/ unless you have anything specific that wouldn't make this a viable option.

As in you've already bought the cameras, or this is equipment you're thinking of getting at some point? We're vaguely considering the same kind of thing, and I'm more inclined to see how we get on with using an iPad as a video device - rather than output video from a camcorder via a hardware interface of some kind and have to have something encode it for live streaming we should be able to live stream straight from the iPad itself.

We used an IP Camera we were testing with the Obsproject software @foofighterjim suggested. Worked brilliant once all setup and meant we could just plugin anywhere we had a socket, just about everywhere. Plus if we ever want to use one of our Security system cameras to broadcast an event, we can. 1
sted Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 id be more worried about the pupil aspect than the tech what happens if kida who is on the never photograph under any circumstances list gets on the stream?
unixman_again Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 (edited) We use this MEDIAL | Media Library Software | Moodle Video Plugin and we've done some test live streams and we are impressed with the results. The first use in anger will probably be open evening in September. You can live stream any IOS or Android device. You need the Wowza GoCoder (others might work) free on the app stores and you're good to go. Medial is a paid for solution, but we think well worth it. Their support is first rate. Chris_ Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 We stream via YouTube using a Teradek Vidiu (VidiU – Teradek, LLC - Wireless HD Video). Camera connects to it via HDMI, it can have an external audio source also which has been useful to take a feed from a sound desk. 1
MarkSixsmith Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Weve been using Planet eStream estream ro broadcast events and lectures live for a few years now, one click to record means its easy and it does broadcast and record well from hdmi, network cameras, etc.
