School Scout Scheme 'Hugely Positive'

 

A pilot scheme to introduce scouting into the curriculum of schools in deprived areas has proved "hugely positive".

 

The results of the Scouts Association's Character By Doing trial will be presented to Westminster later.

 

For half a year, six schools in the South East and East Midlands have been taking part in the scheme funded by a Department of Education grant.

 

Liam Burns, Head of Policy with the UK Scout Association, said there has been a marked difference in student behaviour.
