Dear All,

Our students seemed to have taken a liking to this game, so much they are deliberately turning off wifi, and other things, to play it.

Has anyone found a way to block this? GPO or Registry would be good :-)

TA from nursery came over - computer not working

OK - fine - went down and sorted it out

but couldn't find a keyboard - but PC worked fine otherwise so I asked about the keyboard

Turned out that the keyboard was being used by Reception because that keyboard was broken - hence they were sharing the keyboard

is it me??????

There's a part of me which believes things like this relate more to classroom management than IT Support. If you block this, they'll surely find something else to do instead of work.

Having said that, I've found this link https://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#AllowDinosaurEasterEgg which seems to indicate that there is an option to prevent the game working. I've done some testing and found that the registry key below will stop the game running, instead giving the error shown below.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome]

"AllowDinosaurEasterEgg"=dword:00000000

Edit:

I've also found that typing chrome://policy in the address bar shows whether this policy is in effect without having to disconnect from the network.

If you don't want to push out registry entries this can be achieved with Group Policy.

The latest group policy settings from google have an entry just for this :)
