hello, we have just registered all our iPads on DEP. All our Apps are now 'device licenses', and VPP enabled. we should not need to enter any Apple ID when installing Apps.

I have added the Apps to Meraki but the iPads after being reset are being asked to enter apple ID and meraki is reporting:

"Error - The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated"

early days for DEP etc I know but has anyone had success with this?

Thanks

You cannot just add apps through meraki you have to purchase them through vpp first even if they are free before you add them to meraki as its all about licensing.

Have you enrolled your ipads manually through the web link one by one or added the meraki profile through apple configurator.

If all the Ipads are in DEP then they should deploy all apps out otherwise if they are not in you have to send a email out from meraki and associate it with an iTunes account and accept the agreement.

Once that is done you can use the iTunes account within the ipads to deploy out apps without and password required

A) Have you requested DEP from your reseller, this needs to be done before you can enrol them?

B) I presume the apps are ones you have deployed via the preenrolment section of Meraki?

It's worth noting that not EVERY app can be deployed via device assignment.

Lastly I do wish people's terminology on here would be clearer...

There is no such thing as an iTunes account, it's an Apple ID

I have put the serials into DEP via reseller.

Purchased the Apps on Apple VPP site (even free ones)

Synced Apps into Meraki

Checked Apps are 'device deployable'

Ticked in Meraki to use a VPP license

Added the Apps to my devices in Meraki

Some of the iPads install all the Apps, some a few, some none....then the next day some.....very frustrating. It must be a bug. 9.3.2.

I've found Meraki throws "Error - The iTunes Store ID of the application could not be validated" whenever it's had an issue assigning a VPP licence and tries to install an app without a licence. Sometimes this has been my fault, as I've not obtained enough VPP licences to cover all devices. Sometimes, even though Meraki can see that licences are available, I have to do a full VPP sync before licences are assigned to $iPad_SerialNumber. And sometimes there seems to be no reason.

I'd guess this is a Meraki issue, rather than Apple, as Meraki can see the licences are available, but fails to assign them to devices, but tbh I've not got to the bottom of it. I'd be interested to know if others using different MDMs also have this issue.
