Student email address in SIMS

Ongoing battle this one.

 

In SIMS where should the students email address be recorded (student school email address that is)

I think it should be in section 5 of the student record. I keep finding the parents email address in this section.

 

What do you guys and dolls do?

I put them in Section 4 of the student record.

 

Parents e-mail addresses should be against the parents record in the Contacts section.

We often find that the Primary school CTF has the parents e-mail in the wrong location.

 

[Edit] Meant section 4.. teaches me not to look closely at SIMS while typing[/edit]

We put them in section 4 (telephone and email addresses) for the pupil address. The parents email addresses live under 5 (family and home contacts).

Yeah, gotta agree with the others, Section 4 is the pupil, Section 5 is every other bugger.

Frankly there shouldn't be any argument about this - they belong in section 4 and section 4 only. That's the pupil contact details, section 5 is family.

 

If you mess around with that then things like inTouch and anything else that talks to SIMS will be completely and utterly useless.

Really annoys me when staff put parent/carer email addresses in Section 4, no matter how many times I tell them not to.

Just fallen foul to this..... and it's STILL happening here also.....

 

Just needs a GUI update to change the sections 4,5 so it makes more sense!
