steven_layton_sl Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Hi After trying and failing to install Microsoft Azure AD Connect yesterday, I'm now left with the application not running and refusing to uninstall, with attempts for both bringing the same helpful error message. I have tried Goggling the error, but can't find a solution. Any ideas?
Matt_Renato Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Are there any further details in the event logs?
dapaulio Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 Funny this happened to me but everytime I tried to uninstall and reinstall in I always got invalid class. I had to manually uninstall remove all registry keys. I ended up reinstalling ad connect on another server
steven_layton_sl Posted June 24, 2016 Author Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) I can't see anything in the Windows Logs at all. Frustrating. Looks like I'll probably go down a similar route to @dapaulio. Do you remember where you found the full list of reg keys that need removing? Edited June 24, 2016 by steven_layton_sl

Do you remember where you found the full list of reg keys that need removing? I never got anything in the logs either. I even got information logs that ad connect had successfully repaired. it lied... here is the thread I started http://www.edugeek.net/forums/cloud-services/171203-azure-ad-connect-upgrade.html Edited June 24, 2016 by dapaulio

dapaulio Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 Good job I have another two DCs! I have another two chances for it to go right, lol. was exactly my thinking when it screwed up on mine. probably the reason why MS advise having at least 2 dc on a network. lol Good luck
dapaulio Posted June 24, 2016 Posted June 24, 2016 (edited) found the link for the manual uninstall https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/vilath/2015/06/17/azure-ad-sync-unable-to-install-the-synchronization-service/ also use this if you are installing on a 2012r2 box and you have a proxy https://blog.kloud.com.au/2016/05/24...5-0-and-above/ Edited June 24, 2016 by dapaulio
EduTech Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Hey Folks, I don't suppose you could send me the AAD Connect Log files where the Installation Failed and then you were unable to Uninstall the Application. Log Location: (C:\users\%username%\AppData\Local\AADConnect) I assume you were using the latest version 1.1.189.0 Many Thanks, James.
steven_layton_sl Posted July 4, 2016 Author Posted July 4, 2016 Hi @EduTech I have PM'd you what I believe is the contents of the right log file. Let me know if it is now . Yes, I can confirm it was the latest version of Azure AD Connect tool that I was trying to install onto our 2008r2 FRDC.

EduTech Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 Thanks @dapaulio I have recieved the link and shall have a look through the logs. Thanks @steven_layton_sl - I didn't get a PM from you though :-)
