Login screen change not applying

Hi all.

 

So I've changed in registry HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Policies > Microsoft > Windows > System created newDWORD (32-bit) Value DisableLogonBackgroundImage with value of 1. Apparently this should set the login screen to blue, however this is not applying. I have got a GPO forcing a lock screen image, would this conflict? Any ideas?

 

In an ideal word I would love a replacement image to be on the login screen, but from what I've seen you can't do this without 3rd party software, which is not happening!

Solved it... had to take it out of the domain and put it back in for some reason :s Still would prefer a custom image, anywho!

Gah! Worked for one computer but no others. Any ideas?

Not that its much help but I tried it here and its worked on all the computers after a reboot. I did setup the GPO to replace the registry key if that makes any difference?

I've read that not having the latest Windows updates may stop this from applying, will give it a shot!

How are you applying the registry change? Group Policy Preferences?

At the moment I'm changing it manually on the computer(s), when I've got it working I'll then look at applying it via GPO. I've already got 1 registry change policy which works.

YES!!! It's down to Windows updates. Won't work on a fresh install of Windows, ran updates, restarted, and now I've got a pretty blue background on the login screen. Don't know which update affects it though...

Along the same lines. Does anyone know how to force the logon page to "Windows Spotlight" ?
