karldenton Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hi New 2012 virtual server on hyper v (well 2 actually) Both are stuck on "Preparing to install" after doing updates from Microsoft rather than WSUS. Retried and also run Windows update fix from microsoft and done a reboot but still does the same. Thanks
edutech4schools Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 I always get that if I install all the updates in one go on a fresh server install. I think it's KB 2919355 which causes the issue if it's installed before some other update, so I leave this until last, along with the larger updates.
ITJS2015 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Hi Do you use a proxy ? Open up a command with admin permissions and type the following netsh winhttp show proxy With windows 8 8.1 windows 10 and server 2012 have system proxy behind the scenes which I didn't know until a month back and had trouble installing updates. They had 0% installing even they had been detected If you don't have the proxy in do the following command netsh winhttp set proxy (Proxy address:portnumber) If that does not work with it make sure aswell that within the internet settings under trusted site make sure that from this link the addresses are put in there https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc708605(v=ws.10).aspx Hopefully this should work
ITJS2015 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Use https://update.microsoft.com https://windowsupdate.microsoft.com https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com https://*update.microsoft.com
Sagima Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 If it's got secure boot enabled I find that I sometimes get that with the initial batch of updates. Unticking it for the install always sorts it
