Soliloquy Reading Assistant v4.01

Been asked to install this (well actually asked to install the content disks, but I gather this platform CD is a pre-requisite and you just bung in the content disks when needed). Not having any luck on Windows 7.

 

Is anyone using this on W7 (or 8)? If so, how did you get it to install?

Yes. We have it working ok on W7 x64 and x86 previously and on CC4 . I think we had to look at permissions to get it working though.

Hmmm... I tried all sorts of compatibility settings. Wondering if it's like SMART that doesn't seem to like to be installed by anyone except "The" Administrator? Will try next week.

Did you have a chance to take a look? I've tried all sorts of compatibility settings and even editing the setup.ini to no avail .

From memory I think we had to change permissions on the folder but I'll try and check unless we have another mad day.

Hold fire on that! I contacted the current publishers who are supposed to be sending out a FOC 4.10 disk. Kudos to Pearsons for sorting this out.

Thanks to @southhamster for trying to take a look at this and respect to Pearsons for sorting out an up-to-date disc. If only all EDU publishers were as helpful! Off to fill out their satisfaction survey. Edited June 27, 2016 by LeMarchand

Hi,

bit late but just going to add that we had to give authorised users read permissions to c:\readingassistantv4data folder. to get it to work.

This is also the folder to copy/backup to save user data. We setup a robocopy job to backup those folder occasionally (it's only on 4 PC's here, but is used a fair bit)

Annoying that it needs the disk in the drive to work, but I guess it's one of those that needs "Windows 98 or higher and 1GB RAM " to run...

 

We also found that screen size was too small. To fix it, login to reader as a teacher user, click default and set video to full screen and save

Cheers - guess I'd better change those permissions! That said I suspect that as it requires some input from the teacher to set up, it won't get used.
