Report writing software

I have finally been listened to and we are ditching our awful Publisher templates that we use for annual reports. Yippee!

 

I have been asked to look into alternatives. So what do other schools use? Any recommendations? (primary school btw).

600 pupils, school will willing to pay, we use SIMS.

We're looking for a piece of software too.

 

Would be so much easier if there was a centrally stored database that each person could access, that had to write to the individual report. Then once completed and checked by the Headteacher, printed off as a school report.

 

Any ideas?

Sims has its own reporting system which through "Profiles" will allow you to setup reporting templates to which the staff all have access and can write their individual reports and this can be managed centrally within Sims. I don't know if you have this module as part of your Sims but it is very effective although like any other software can be a little finicky.

Sims Profiles is in the mix, however the school seem to have an aversion to doing things in Sims so I'm not hopeful on that one.

We have been using a company called DeRep for our written reports, and I must say we have been extremely impressed with the software and the support they offer, nothing has been to much trouble for these guys. Teachers can log on online and complete their reports in minutes! and from a setup point of view it takes very little time to import the classes I managed to import kS3 and KS4 classes in under an hour. I can easily import the comments from excel into a SIMS marksheet ready to use with our individual report templates. From a data managers point of view DeRep has helped me streamline our whole written reports process.
