superaz300 Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Hello Guys, As some of you may be aware, but on CC4.3 and CC4.5 there was a problem with Windows 7 builds where the build client would start searching for updates, but then timeout and fail. RM have got to the bottom of this and have released a fix which is currently in field trial. I myself for our school have installed the field trial, and I can confirm that mine (CC4.5 network) and another friend (CC4.3 Network) are no longer having any WSUS problems. Just want to say a massive thank you to RM, it has made my builds allot more easier and the computers are ready to use fully when they have being built. What the update does, it creates a scheduled task to run on the CC4 First Server to cleanup the WSUS database, but also the CC4 database so it doesn't take so long to search for updates no more. As well as this, I have also freed up about 24GB of disk space from the WSUS folder with unused updates. For those of you wondering what update I am talking about, please see: DWN5037756 Good job RM! bossman Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 @superaz300 Great to see someone give credit to RM for the speed of the fix, I have been running a script which does this automatically for a few years now but I'm still on 4.2 for the moment, looking at Migration to 4.5 early summer holidays, Good stuff RM
superaz300 Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Well I give credit where it is deserved. Allot of people doubt RM for their networks, but from my point of view yes they may have glitches and problems from time to time, but there support is fantastic and issues are very quickly resolved. That was our first version of CC4 was 4.2, we upgraded from CC3 to 4.2, then to 4.3 and now we are on 4.5, when you get the upgrade and the advantages that it has you wont look back. Good luck with the upgrade, hope it goes as planned! - Edited June 9, 2016 by superaz300 1
HarryMonkey Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Don't worry, it wont take long for someone to come along and tell you its your own fault for going with RM in the first place
superaz300 Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Your probably right, but everyone has their own opinion on RM networks and vanilla, but from our experience, CC4 suits our school perfectly. There is good and bad with both networks to be honest, its all about what is best for the school and the number of people you have in your IT department which for us is not many.
HarryMonkey Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 You're right. I've worked with RM networks for 20 years now and find they have suited each of my schools perfectly. 1
