robjduk Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Ok big wireless refresh inbound for me and looking to have the main players fight it out however has anyone got anything good to say about Netgear wireless in schools? Normally I wouldnt look at them but seen them at BETT and their lifetime warranties make things interesting. Anyone got hands on experience of a modern netgear solution? Thanks
sted Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 current stuff no but their old kit was dire it would have to be free for me to consider it
tmoon-mint Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Use WNDAP360 APs and a WC7520 controller. Not had any problems super easy to setup and manage.
Net-Ctrl Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 When you're all up and running and ready to look at your wireless refresh, we'd love to be involved to pitch Ruckus if you're not already discussing this with someone else.
snagrat Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Ruckus do lifetime warranty, as do many of the other vendors.
Sylv3r Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I looked at Netgear when I was investigating both switches and wireless for last summer. The kit was OK, the people from Netgear were knowledgable, I just much preferred the cloud based kit in the end as I wanted to go controllerless, although I now think Netgear have a cloud based option now.
Blue_Cookeh Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Ripped all our Netgear kit out. APs were dropping like flies and the management interfaces on the switches left a lot to be desired. Everything we have now is HP/Cisco/UniFi.
call911 Posted June 11, 2016 Posted June 11, 2016 We use Netgear for all our switches, and Unifi for the wireless. Their 48pt PoE Pro switches are great, and priced about $700, with lifetime warranty, can't be beat. We have about 40 total and have had zero issues.

Everything we have now is HP/Cisco/UniFi. Was thinking this really. I was half considering Netgear for a moment as I am doing a wireless refresh soon. Talking to Ruckus, Meraki, Meru and was going to include Aruba however at Bett, Aruba gave 0 freebies and Netgear gave lots.

I don't know if it's still the case, but the Netgear wireless kit we used about 8 years ago (801.11g) was re-badged Aruba. It was quite good. Thanks, Bruce.
