Anyone deployed Autodesk Fusion 360?

We get a "you need to install Microsoft WebView2 component" as Student accounts, works fine as an Admin however.

 

Anyone come across this?

I got past a big hurdle, that is the constant need to update. I had to push the batch file in to the fusion location as their instructions, and deploy a scheduled task that can execute it.

 

The hurdles for me were: allowing batch files to run and restrict where from, publishing a scheduled task that couldn't use the local admin creds or a domain admin creds, having the non-intercepting proxy allow exe's to a non-user & got lucky that the system account could run the batch file.

 

the batch files content and location are as the autodesk lab install 2022 update. but the published scheduled task, I had to alter to use the nt system account as I'm not publishing a task with domain admin credentials or local admin.

 

I've had 2 test machines update autodesk whilst not logged in, so I think the largest hurdle is done.

 

I can use a simple script to deploy the admin install once and let it update.

I have installed it for our Only It teacher and it works for me as an admin. its a local install (not sccm)

I have added the various websites to the "bypass proxy settings" for teachers, then forced a gp update to/on the machine he uses. i'm not sure if it takes the changes though as he doesnt have access past "settings" in chrome

When our It teacher logs in and loads the software, he gets a username and password box appear, he cant type anything in it, if you cancel it comes up with check network connections.

currently thinking its a firewall issue but not too sure how to change it. as in if i log into the pc locally as admin would it keep the change for other users?

What firewall/filter is it?

In the past things like Fortigate I have found can pick out an Application versus a web browser, for example

I've been asked to look at Fusion again after a year of not using it and it looks like they've updated the deployment method and no longer supporting the batch file method. Instead you can create a custom install method and deploy it from that - problem is that Fusion doesn't come up as a supported custom install method from the available licenses, despite we are licensed for education (which I've just renewed) and can log in and use it online and via the old install method.

Autodesk Fusion requires no install, it runs in a browser, and is web version of Fusion 360. I recomend it because it just works! On any device with a browser, so your pupils can use it at home.

Having installed the latest version, it seems Autodesk now also require the following two domains or you'll get the web proxy authentication pop up.

I've opened a case with Autodesk to confirm these two domains are now required, and asked them to update the list of domains if so.

I've also asked them to look at ways of alerting admins like ourselves when new domains such as these become required. Of course if they'd updated the article before release we could have check that. They will look into this and hopefully in future, it won't be down to us to discovery what is and isn't required for them

This is quite a poor experience, it is an RDP of a machine running desktop Fusion and runs ever so poorly, even on a fiber 1000Mbit internet connection.
