Jaan Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hi Guys, Has anybody ever used Microsoft's vhdx convert to make a physical sims server virtual? If so any issues i should be made aware of? Thinking of going virtual in the future and would be great if i could just down, convert and boot to vm. Thanks again
rob_coles Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Used it on a member server before minus the sims worked perfectly. It seemed a little to easy which worried me a little. I'd take sims offline before migrating other than that can see any reason why not. 1
ItsOggy Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Did this last year to a 2012r2 / SQL 2014 SIMS server with Disk2VHD. Just stop the sims / SQL services first! Been working great since! 1

Great thanks, do you stop the services from "services" or sql manager? Also what spec is your sims VM? thanks again
ItsOggy Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 (edited) I stopped them all in services both for SQL and sims. The VM is: 4 VCPU 8 GB Ram We don't use discover or anything exotic just plain SIMS and SOLUS 3 on the box. Edited June 4, 2016 by ItsOggy
