Sdr204 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Hi all I'm looking to move 28 staff mailboxes from RM Easymail to O365. I've set up O365, verified the domain and created the new mailboxes. I've experimented with a test account and managed to get the IMAP migration tool to work just fine. My question is, is there a way to access the RM Easymail mailboxes with the admin credentials? Or will I have to reset them all to something else during migration? I'm not sure I know how to change them! Can anyone help? I guess what I am asking is, when I create the csv, I need a neat way around the password column to help IMAP to carry out the migration without me having to get everyone's passwords.
DJ-1701 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 Unfortunately if you want to migrate them, either you will need to reset their password, or the users themselves will need to migrate their data.
Sdr204 Posted June 4, 2016 Author Posted June 4, 2016 thanks for this - had feared that would be the case. USers migrating own data isn't an option, so guess I will have to reset them. Can you advise how to do this in Easymail plus admin? The option isn't obvious
DJ-1701 Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 It should just be a case of going to the user tab, selecting the user, editing them and then you will have the field to type a password that meets the current complexity requirements. How to manage individual users in RM EasyMail Plus
Meldrew Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 From memory, the process doesn't migrate email contacts, only literally the emails themselves, so that might be worth bearing in mind... Meldrew.

Correct, only the emails are migrated. Contacts, if used on the webmail, have to be exported and reimported to the new account.
snagrat Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 You can bulk change passwords. When I do these migrations I decide when it will happen and change all the users password at the same time
witch Posted June 4, 2016 Posted June 4, 2016 From memory - I think i put in everyone's passwords into the CSV and it worked. I've done it twice - you would think I would remember

Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 I'm having an absolute nightmare today! Our Easymail accounts are no longer receiving email! The only steps I have done is to register the domain with O365 and create mailboxes for the users. I haven't synced any mailboxes yet and I haven't changed the MX records. When I try to sent an email to one of the accounts on the domain I get a bounceback saying illegal host/domain name. What's going on ?!
DJ-1701 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 If you are trying to send an e-mail from O365 to an account to the domain you have registered, it will only send to the O365 accounts (as it believes it controls them). EasyMail will only send to the EasyMail accounts. All other e-mail accounts will send to the current MX record you have. What happens when you send an e-mail from a non-EasyMail non-365 account? There doesn't appear to be any issues at the moment with EasyMail. RM Internet & E-safety Status
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 I'm trying to send an email from a non 365 and non Easymail account to an address on the domain. No users on the domain have received any email at Easymail since Friday. Its very odd as the MX record still points to Easymail that hasn't changed.
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 I just used an online tool online to check the MX record and this is what it shows C865BA091995D3F10ADB261339F546005797389E.msv1.invalid I'm guessing that's the problem but I don't understand why it's changed.
snagrat Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Who controls the DNS records? Do you have access to be able to amend them?
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 our ISP controls them, they have someone on call over the weekend who I may be able to get hold of. My big concern is though why they have changed?
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 I think what's happened is that I gave the ISP both the TXT and MX record for them to verify the domain with O365. By adding the MX record I think that's caused our problem.
DJ-1701 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Yeah, since the MX record has changed, it has made it live. I would create the accounts in 365 to ensure the emails get stored somewhere.
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 The accounts have been created in 365, but the email is not being stored there. The MX record is showing as invalid. I think it's just an MX record to verify the domain rather than the actual MX record to route the email.
Sdr204 Posted June 5, 2016 Author Posted June 5, 2016 Can you advise on how to bulk change them please?
DJ-1701 Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 In the past you just needed to add the txt file so Microsoft knows the Domain. Once you have requested the MX record to be changed with the details provided by Microsoft it should change automatically to the O365 provider. If you go to the Admin Center, then click the Cog on the left hand side and select Domains. Once you click on the domain you have added, it should give you all the details you need to be changed with your DNS provider to get the options you want setup. You can also use Check DNS to ensure that DNS has been updated by your DNS provider.
snagrat Posted June 5, 2016 Posted June 5, 2016 Can you advise on how to bulk change them please? Create a csv with username and password - no csv headers. Username is without the @DomAin bit. In EasyMail admin go to bulk upload users. Select Csv and then you choose the headers which will be username and password. Ensure you select to modify users and to work instantly. If more than 25 users you need to split it into multiple goes Good luck!
Sdr204 Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 Can you explain how to bulk change passwords in Easymail?
Sdr204 Posted June 7, 2016 Author Posted June 7, 2016 The users already exist in Easymail, won't adding a csv in this way just duplicate users?
DJ-1701 Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 You shouldn't be able to duplicate an e-mail account as it has to be unquie, but you could always try this with some test accounts just to make sure things run smoothly. Personally I haven't bulk changed e-mail accounts as I have found it easier just changing one by one with the number of users I had.
snagrat Posted June 7, 2016 Posted June 7, 2016 Your not adding users, just changing the existing ones. When you import you have the option to import or modify. Select modify and only the password will change
