What drivers needs to be installed for Proliant DL380 G5 SVR from the HP driver link

Hi

 

I have HP Proliant DL380 G5 server and have installed Windows 2008 R2 for our new media server. I have now completed installing the the OS.

When i went to the device manager these is no prompts for drivers all seems good.

Do i need to down any drivers and install from the link below

If so please can you let me know the important drivers and software that i need to download and install on this server.

Please suggest , any help would be great.

I would run the PSP which will look at your current configuration and update any driver or firmware that is needed.

 

Can I ask why you haven't installed 2012 r2. The support will be longer and will save you reinstalling the server when 2008r2 support ceases

I was not able to find the drivers for windows 2012, have you manged to install 2012 on DL380 G5 server and if so please can you share.

Have you tried it. Although it isn't supported by hp doesn't mean it won't work. Depends how mission critical the server is. Granted if it were an important server you would stick to the supported guidelines but assuming that you are using an old g5 to fill a role says to me it all that important. We use to have a g5 that I played with and can't recall having any significant issues with it. I just installed straight from a dvd

Also install smh which will report server and hardware status

We have Server 2012 R2 on a DL380 G5. You can install from the DVD as previously discussed. However ensure that you install as many drivers from the 2008 R2 as possible (use "compatibility mode") which worked with us. Also, download the newest ProLiant Support Pack (from HP's FTP Site, which is still public?) which will allow you to update all the drivers, iLO 2 etc.

 

If you do all of this, you'll be fine.
