Windows 10 Camera App for Tablets

I have some Windows 10 tablets running Windows 10 Pro, that I have configured with Classic Start Menu.

 

They have a camera on both sides. Is there an easy way to deploy the Camera App to all tablets through GPO and also add a shortcut in the Classic Start Menu for the camera App please?

From what I can tell, "modern" apps can only be installed from the Windows Store.

 

There are a number of options for deploying them, depending on the licence type - they can have an offline or an online licence. There is a Windows Store for business now and you can download Apps with an offline licence and then deploy using group policy options - although the method is not like deploying an MSI using GPO.

 

Using the Windows Store for business, you can make particular Apps available for your users - although they'll still need a Microsoft account.

 

Not entirely straightforward as far as I can see - although improving. Did you actually uninstall the standard apps when you set up Classic Shell, or are the just hidden?

Offline licensing is a new licensing option for Windows 10. With offline licenses, organizations can download apps and their licenses to deploy within their network, or on devices that are not connected to the Internet. ISVs or devs can opt-in their apps for offline licensing when they submit them to the Windows Dev Center. Before we continue, I just want to touch on the subject of offline-licensed Universal Apps. With the release of Windows 10, a new licensing option was developer with the intent to give organizations a way of downloading and deploy their apps within their network in addition to devices that are not connected to the internet. When ISV’s (independent software vendors) or developers submit their app to the Dev Center, they can opt in for offline-licensing for their app. It’s important to know that only apps opted in for offline-licensing can be distributed as an offline-licensed app, and that not all apps available today have this.

 

Some of the reasons why you may want to deploy offline-licensed apps in your environment include:

 

• No access to the Windows Store services (no internet access)
  
• You use ConfigMgr to deploy your devices in your organization (imaging)
  
• You do not (yet) have Azure AD accounts for your workforce

The camera App is a default Apps. I am getting this and all other default Apps show on a Apps folder on the Classic Shell start menu as a administrator. I am using start menu server redirection for users via GPO, so they are not seeing the default Apps icons that come with windows 10. I was hoping there would be a way to manually create a icon for the Camera App and place it on the server share with other icons so they get it through the start menu too.
