Link to article below. Any thoughts? Admittedly, I've not followed the development of Oculus Rift too closely as, to be frank, I can't afford the kit to run it!

so basically they are going to have one console going forwards and instead of replacing the system every x years (xbox-360-1) it will be more like your mobile replace it when it breaks/is too slow etc but as it runs the same base os all your stuff can come with you. I suspect then what they are waiting for is amd competitor to the 1080 nvidia series (as current xbox1 is amd its probably easier to stick to that gpu line for compatibility). Just please ms give us upgradable hard drives (and ideally 2 bays a 2.5" ssd bay and a 3.5 hdd bay that way i can put current stuff/os on the fast ssd and move older stuff to long term storage)

it does make sense these days hardware gets faster quicker and 5 year old gpus comparatively suck just look at the 1080 compared to 1 generation ago in a lot of tests its faster than 2 of them and draws less power

A 3.5" HDD bay would make the console needlessly huge (just like the very first Xbox). :)

A better option perhaps would be to ship the console with a 2.5" user-replaceable HDD that also supports the slightly thicker 4TB hard drives and have an empty M.2 slot underneath the console for installing a super fast SSD.

just shove it sideways on the end makes it what 2-3 cm thicker. Im not sure within reason i give 2 hoots how big my games console is as long as it isnt daft and something an inch bigger in any or all dimensions than an xb1 is not to me an issue and is no worse than bolting an external drive to it

Storage has never really been an issue for me. I think I've come within 50GB of filling the drive at one point but usually hover around the 100GB mark. SSD would be nice though.

i 100%ed my 500gb and currently hovering about 90% on my 1tb because i dont want to have to redownload/repatch an old game i decide to replay esp something like master chief collection the patches are huge

Two years ago this would of got me excited but in the last year I have nearly fully moved over to PC gaming about 90% of games I play are now on my PC.

Was pretty sure, when they announced the launch date for Oculus they said it works on xb1... it even comes with an xb1 controller...

Whoops, I must have missed that.

I can't decide whether or not to be up for it. Next level gaming or limited appeal? I quite enjoy using the Kinect on XB1 mostly for Xbox Fitness but there's a lesser risk of volleying your coffee table or running into a wall with that.

not much risk with oculus as i believe its basically a sit down experience whereas the vive is more of a get up and end up punching the wall one but needs a fair amount of free space
